So, Valve officially pushed their “banwave” or “overwatch wave”, most likely the wave isn’t a detected feature but Overwatch cases review by their “trusted” users for the past week. Since there are a lot of new joiners to NL, heres some information on how to avoid getting banned yourself.
Overwatch
Overwatch, is just the playerbase reviewing a demo of your gameplay, to determine if you are cheating or not.
Legit Cheating
It’s still possible to legit cheat, without any problems.
Just make sure safemode is on, and you aren’t blatant.
MM HvH
You can also still HvH in MM, by not using “Rapidfire/Nospread” and keeping safemode on. There’s always a chance you’ll get banned, but it’s the new “era” of HvH.
Convicted Accounts
All accounts that were using unsafe features, features that were disabled by default when “safe mode” was enabled, got banned.

If they are still on leaderboard, it’s because they weren’t online and the leaderboard has not updated yet.
